Development in dysfunction: a panel event hosted by Child.org

Over the past year, Kenya’s healthcare landscape has undergone a dramatic shift with sweeping reforms that have been controversial, lacking strategic implementation and with limited communication to the public. At the same time political instability, a devolved health system and the withdrawal of USAID funds (with an estimated 40,000 health workers in Kenya affected) have created further uncertainty.
At Child.org, through our flagship maternal health program, Team Mum, we are working within a health system fraught with challenges, and we are witnessing first hand how these challenges affect the health of pregnant women and their babies.
In this panel discussion, we are joined by some of Child.org’s Programming Team from Kenya, plus board members and expert advisors. We will share our frustrations and our hopes for maternal and newborn healthcare, our learnings from operating within a difficult political context and our plans for navigating the challenges highlighted.
