Social Media Volunteer for Bristol International Twinning Association

 

Bristol International Twinning Association (BITA) is the umbrella organisation for Bristol’s seven volunteer-run twinning associations for Beira (Mozambique), Bordeaux (France), Guangzhou (China), Hanover (Germany), Porto (Portugal), Puerto Morazan (Nicaragua) and Tbilisi (Georgia).

As a Social Media volunteer your role is to contribute to BITA’s online presence on Instagram @bristoltwincities, supporting their commitment to international partnership and global citizenship and solidarity. You will be managed by Bristol City Council’s International Twinning Officer, and may attend the quarterly BITA meetings.

You should be passionate about creating engaging content, building online communities, and eager to contribute to charities making a real difference to communities in Bristol and its partner cities.

Key volunteer tasks:

  • Create Instagram posts based on information from the 7 associations
  • Engage with followers, responding to comments and messages 
  • Research local Instagram pages to follow and monitor their content (like/share/comment)
  • Observe social media trends which BITA should follow

Optional volunteer tasks:

  • Create a schedule of dates for posting approx every fortnight (BITA events and Trustee Day, Volunteer Day, International Days etc.)
  • Create a Social Media Policy (based on a template from one of the 7 groups)
  • Encourage the 7 groups to produce content (keep up to date with their activities)
  • Encourage 4 groups to set up Instagram accounts

Skills you’ll need:

  • Passion for social media 
  • Good written communication skills
  • Creativity and eye for detail
  • Basic photo and video editing
  • Familiarity with Instagram and its analytics
