Bristol Link with Beira, a programme of Southern Africa Resource Centre is looking for Charity Trustees
Gain experience and develop skills – join a passionate volunteer team doing some great work in Mozambique, and in Bristol.
Bristol Link with Beira https://bristolbeiralink.org/ supports projects making a real difference to the lives of people in Bristol’s twin city Beira, Mozambique, whilst raising awareness in Bristol about how global issues of Social Justice and Climate Change affect Beira. BLB has been involved in projects in Bristol and Beira for 35 years, encompassing:
- Education and Health
- Community and Civil Society
- Climate Change and Energy
- Culture and Sport
BLB is targeting SDG 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities and SDG 17 Partnerships for the Goals. We work through non-profit organisations in Beira and the civic authorities.
We are looking for volunteers based in or around Bristol, who are passionate about climate justice and global citizenship. Experience and/or knowledge of Sub-Saharan Africa is welcome but not essential, as are Portuguese language skills. Previous board/trustee experience is not necessary.
Trustees pro-actively contribute to our activities by joining one or both of our Working Groups:
- Projects in Beira
- Events in Bristol
meeting alternate months on zoom. The Trustee Board meets every other month, alternately virtual and in Bristol. Meetings are held outside working hours.
Trusteeship can be good for personal and professional development, as a tool to gaining new skills or achieving a more positive well-rounded balance in their life. Being a trustee can help you be happy!
