Uganda Sovereignty Bill: Implications and Considerations for UK-based INGOs

SWIDN_Illustration_14

The aim of this panel event is to bring together UK-based INGOs working in Uganda, to better understand the implications of the recent legislation and to reflect on their role going forward.

In light of the recent Sovereignty Bill (2026), this session will explore:

– How we can continue to support Ugandan partners in ways that do not expose them to risk.

– What role UK-based organisations should play in standing in solidarity with Ugandan civil society and advocating for civic rights in this context.

– The perspectives, guidance, and expertise of Ugandan civil society leaders, ensuring our understanding is grounded in local leadership.

This is a joint event between Small International Development Charities Network (SIDCN), South West International Development Network (SWIDN), Hub Cymru Africa, Scotland’s International Development Alliance, CADA (Coalition of Aid and Development Agencies NI), and Bond.
