Taking Action on Decolonisation: An informal discussion space

Join us for an informal, online working group discussion to engage with themes of decolonisation in international development.

Over the years, SWIDN has been working to tackle coloniality and colonialism in international development. Like most, we are on a journey of continuous learning around what decolonisation is and what it means for us and our members. Some of our members have recently requested that we continue our focus on decolonisination and include practical tips to operationalise this, including online learning resources. We have also been asked to write for readers who don’t have a background in international development.

Each Thursday throughout June 2026, we’ll be publishing a blog about decolonisation in international development, addressing the big ideas together with the practical actions we can take in the sector. We’ll be sharing the blog online, together with an accompanying Toolkit as an e-bulletin for our members. If you are not yet a member but would like to join, please email us via info@swidn.org.uk

This discussion group is an opportunity to engage with the issues discussed in the blog series, to explore what it means to decolonise international development in practice, and to connect with others in the sector facing similar challenges and experiences. Facilitated by Dr Megha Kashyap and Odein Princewill, this peer-learning space is an opportunity to come together, reflect, and exchange perspectives on key themes and questions raised in our June blog series.

Whether you have followed the blog series closely or are new to these conversations, all are welcome. Bring your questions, experiences, and reflections as we learn from one another in a supportive and collaborative environment.

This event is open to all.
