Climate Action Working Group- Research Across the South West
Join SWIDN for our Climate Action Working Group where we will hear from universities across the South West on innovative themes within their work towards climate justice. This session will also form a key part of SWIDN’s work to link researchers with practitioners across the South West, to improve both knowledge production and best practice.
Confirmed speakers at this event;
Dr Katharina Richter
Dr Katharina Richter is a Lecturer in Climate Change, Politics and Society at the University of Bristol. She is an expert in degrowth and sustainable development, and has led work on indigenous-led alternatives to development in Latin America and policy options for human flourishing within limits to growth. Katharina’s next research project will explore the impacts of our net zero transformations on indigenous, bio diverse and/or water scarce territories in the global south.
Léna Prouchet
Léna Prouchet is pursuing her PhD at the University of Exeter. She works closely with Cool Earth, a non-profit organization dedicated to combating climate change by partnering with Indigenous peoples and local communities to protect rainforests. Léna focuses on projects that aim to generate income while protecting the environment. Her research, conducted over five months in the Peruvian Amazon, examines the effectiveness of current initiatives. The insights gained from her work not only contribute to academic knowledge but also inform strategies to enhance Cool Earth’s impact.
