SWIDN is launching a capacity building programme for small charities!
Are you a small internationally focused charity based in the South West? Join SWIDN's two-year project to get access to free training, mentoring, resources and more!
Exciting New Opportunity at SWIDN!
We are delighted to announce that SWIDN is launching a new two-year programme to better support small international charities in the South West, and we’re looking for organisations to be involved. Funded with UK Aid from the British people, the programme is designed to improve the resilience and capacity of small internationally-focused charities working towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in countries across the Global South.
At an uncertain time for international aid, this programme is a recognition of the vital role small charities play in the UK’s contribution to achieving the Global Goals. It is an investment in growing the capacity of small international charities to tackle poverty and inequality, and in improving their impact across the global south. We are so excited to be part of this programme and to strengthen the capacity, collaboration and voice of our member organisations in this way. SWIDN exist to support organisations in the South West to achieve social justice across the globe. This programme enables us to invest in our network members to achieve our collective goal.
Who can get involved?
We are looking for small charities based in South West England (Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire, Bristol, and Gloucestershire) who have an interest in engaging in a capacity-building programme of training, events and resources designed to improve their impact. Participating organisations will have the opportunity to access training courses, working groups, a mentoring scheme, networking opportunities and other valuable resources, all tailored specifically to small international NGOs and their distinct needs.
All these resources are free when you become a SWIDN member and participate in the programme, and your SWIDN membership fee for this time period will also be reduced by 50% to either £22.50 or £37.50 per year, depending on the size of your organisation. The programme will run until December 2022 and will increase your skills, knowledge and confidence in key areas to maximise the effectiveness and impact of your organisation.
This opportunity is available to organisations who are registered in the UK as an international development charity, based in the South West of England, and have an annual income of less than £250K. We will ask organisations to make a minimum time commitment of 10 hours per quarter towards their learning and development through this programme, and also to complete a short capacity-assessment form every 6 months including a baseline survey, so we are able to monitor the success of the project and improve our activities to better suit your needs. If an organisation participates, all of its staff and volunteers are able to access the resources available through the programme. We also recognise that many people working for smaller CSOs do so alongside other roles, and so we have planned the programme to be accessible and flexible to support busy lives.
If you would like to apply, please complete the application form below by Sunday 28th February 2021.
We would love to hear from you if you would be interested in participating or have any questions about the programme. Please get in touch by contacting email@example.com.
