SWIDN is launching a capacity building programme for small charities!

Are you a small internationally focused charity based in the South West? Join SWIDN's two-year project to get access to free training, mentoring, resources and more!

Exciting Opportunity at SWIDN!

In January 2021, SWIDN received funding from the UK Government to offer free capacity building resources to small charities in the South West. The programme will launch in April 2021, but we are always looking for more charities to be involved! If you have not yet signed up but would like to, please get in touch.

We’re so excited that UK Government funding will be going towards recognising and investing in small charities. Through SWIDN, UKAid will be funding:

  • quality, accessible and online training on key areas for small charities, including fundraising, project management, programme design and organisational development
  • an online library of downloadable resources, including policy templates, best practice guidelines and practical toolkits
  • a bespoke mentoring system, pairing experienced professionals with individual charities to address their specific needs
  • subject-specific working groups to bring together like-minded charities to share best practice and peer-to-peer learning
  • regular, collaborative and supportive networking opportunities online and in person across the South West

Who can get involved?

If you are a UK-registered small charity based in South West England (Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire, Bristol, and Gloucestershire) and are working towards achieving the SDGs in an FCDO-priority country, you can sign up!

Participating organisations will need to have an annual income of less than £400K and be able to commit a minimum of 5 hours per month towards their own organisational development through this programme. The programme will run until December 2022 and will focus on building the resilience and capacity of small charities through skills, knowledge and confidence in key areas. Further capacity building resources are available to our members, and membership fees for participating charities will be capped at 50% of our usual rate for the life of this project.
