Looking for Working Group facilitators!

We are seeking facilitators to help run and chair our international development working groups

Are you looking to build your facilitation and leadership skills? Would you like to get more involved in the international development sector in the South West?

SWIDN has several working groups that focus on key thematic areas in the international development sector. They meet and communicate regularly to facilitate learning, network with like-minded professionals, and share challenges. The groups are member-led and encourage collaboration, networking and shared learning.

We rely on our brilliant facilitators to lead these communities of practice, whose role it is to chair and plan the meetings to discuss, share and learn around a relevant topic.

This year we are looking to strengthen and grow our working groups, and to do so are looking for new facilitators! It is a great opportunity to build your leadership and facilitation skills and a chance to network and learn with other professionals in your sector.

Facilitators will receive:

  • One free training place a year on any of the SWIDN training courses
  • Profile on our website as a SWIDN associate
  • The opportunity to network with a wide range of international development organisations across the South West

A facilitators role will be to:

  • Organise, attend and chair one working group meeting a quarter with your co-facilitators on a relevant topic
  • Come up with relevant topics and find guest speakers for meetings
  • Cultivate a space of learning and support within the group

We will support the facilitators in ensuring that there are always 2-3 facilitators per group, advertising the meetings through our website and social media channels, and help in finding relevant speakers through our network. We anticipate a facilitator's role to take around 5 hours per quarter, including planning topics, contacting potential speakers, communicating with co-facilitators and members, and chairing the meetings.
