Bridge2Aid is looking for experienced, talented and committed people to join its established board of trustees: www.bridge2aid.org/trustees
You will be joining this well-respected dental training charity at a critical point in its history and will help shape the future of the organisation.
Bridge2Aid fights the causes of poverty in some of the poorest communities in the developing world. We do this by strengthening local healthcare systems – specifically by training local healthcare workers in the provision of emergency dental treatment. More than 70% of the world’s population has no access to the most simple dental pain relief, leaving billions to face a daily battle with pain in the toughest of life circumstances. There is a desperate need to tackle oral disease, infection and chronic pain in communities throughout the developing world – to enable people to work, attend school and care for their families. Our work in these communities means local people are able to function free from pain, and avoid the risk of preventable infections and diseases.
Initially we have developed our programme in rural Tanzania, and our long term plan is to roll this training out to any country where there is a need.
Meetings are held 4 times a year in either Gloucestershire or London. A board strategy meeting takes place every autumn. Meetings of the sub-committees are held 3 - 4 times each year. Trustees also provide mentorship and guidance to the CEO and the charity’s leadership team in the development of strategies on an ad-hoc basis, and attend other related Bridge2Aid events when possible.
Bridge2Aid are particularly interested in hearing from people with experience and expertise in the following areas:
• Fundraising, philanthropy and income generation
• International development
• Dental Public Health
Previous experience of charity work is not essential but it is important that trustees have a genuine interest in Bridge2Aid’s work and can work well in a team environment.
Closing date: Friday 1st December 2017
Interviews will take place in January/February 2018.
