Event Description

The Value for Money (VFM) manifesto approach in UK Aid Direct - Presentation and Q&As with MannionDaniels

At this event, Karen Stephenson, Deputy Director of UK Aid Direct at MannionDaniels, will present on the Value for Money (VFM) manifesto approach used in UK Aid Direct, addressing questions such as:

  • What is the UK Aid Direct approach in measuring VFM?
  • To what extent UK Aid Direct influences DFID in defining VFM and how?
  • What are UK Aid Direct key criteria when reviewing proposals?
  • How does UK Aid Direct monitor Value for Money approaches across programmes?
  • Examples of a fully embedded VFM approach in one project
  • The big dilemma: Is VFM a predominantly quantitative or qualitative approach?
  • What are the challenges to compare over time, similar VFM quantitative indicators across different contexts?

After the presentation, there will be the chance for Q&As with Karen and a group discussion around related themes including:

  • To what extent is VFM considered qualitatively in the design of a proposal?
  • What are the policy changes at the organisational level that might be required to address the UK Aid Direct VFM approach?
  • What is the current experience across organisations with UK Aid Direct projects/DFID projects and their VFM requirements?
  • How realistic is this approach?
