This Working Group is open to all paid Members of SWIDN (inc all staff of SWIDN Member organisations) who are interested in, and/or working on digital communications for international development.

December - Introduction to SEMrush
For the December meeting our guest speaker is SWIDN member Toby Richards.

SEMrush is rated as the leading SEO platform, specialising in keyword research, competitor analysis and Google Ad campaign optimisation. It’s a complete toolset for digital marketing management providing detailed insight to traffic from multiple channels helping to show how effective your existing content and marketing approaches are and how they could be improved.

Specifically it provides tools for:
SEO site Auditing
Keyword Research
Keyword Ranking
Backlink Sources
Site Positioning
Competitor Research (including for all of the above metrics)

As well as a whistle-stop tour, Toby will conduct a website audit and show how the results are affecting organic traffic and what can be done to improve the situation as well as looking at better performing sites in the sector and how and why they’re working well.

The SWIDN Digital Communications working group is for SWIDN members who are engaged or interested in any aspect of digital comms as it relates specifically to international development including social media, email marketing, websites, and other areas - for all members, whether working for NGOs, academic institutes, private or public sector organisations, or as consultants - all are welcome!

The group:
- Provides a forum to bring together members interested in and engaged with digital comms specifically for int dev
- Exchange learning, knowledge and best practice
- Shares information on latest developments, skills and techniques
- Shares learnings on what worked, what didn't and why, success stories, challenges and learning from them
- Discusses other topics and host guest speakers agreed by the group

The group's volunteer facilitator is Kat Gulyas, Digital Marketing Manager at SWIDN member organisation Deki. Group members are encouraged to play an active role in the group by offering to lead/facilitate occasional sessions on particular areas of interest, expertise or experience, and/or suggesting suitable external guest speakers.
